This elegant piece is comprised of a Hardangersom Sampler 6" x 12" (stitched on 32 ct linen) which when folded in half becomes a beautiful, useful needle book (6" 6")!
The sampler displays the various needle weaving techniques particular to traditional Norwegian Hardanger Embroidery (hardangersom):
Dove's Eyes, Picots, Woven Bars, Double Woven Bars,
Woven Wheel, Eyelets, Satin Stitch Rosettes, Ribbon Stitch,
Four Sided Filling Stitch and Cable Stitch.
The Sampler is finished with hemstitching and a silk ribbon Hedebo Edging. Mother-of -Pearl buttons embellish the center of each side (which when sewn on secures the wool flannel pieces on each inside section on which to secure your needles and scissors. A truly magnificent piece!
